She wears a striking black-and-red dance costume, a contrast symbolizing strength and pain, while a hair conceals her face and keeps the world from discovering what lies beneath. She does not appear broken… instead, she seems to dance above her brokenness, transforming her chains into part of her performance. The chains that were meant to restrain her have become an extension of her movement; the red speaks of everything she never said, while the black conceals everything she refused to reveal. “I Will Not Show My Brokenness” is not about a woman who never suffered, but about a woman who learned to dance above her pain until everyone believed she had never broken at all.
