Hassan Jamil Jouni

Prof. Dr. Hassan Jamil Jouni is a plastic calligrapher who began his journey with the Arabic letter more than twenty-five years ago. He is a lecturer at the Lebanese University and a supervisor for a number of doctoral theses. He has held a number of exhibitions at long intervals, including at the Glass Hall of the Ministry of Tourism, the Goethe-Institut, and the French Cultural Center, among others. He has his own unique vision in shaping the Arabic letter. His vision is based on the existence of a strong relationship between the meanings of a word and its shape, and he believes that Arabic calligraphy is one of the finest forms of fine arts. He has completed a number of publications centered around the Arabic language, and is currently working on a book about the philosophy of Arabic calligraphy, in which he connects the visual perspective with the written word.
